What happens behind the scenes when creating a beautiful new home

Here’s a glimpse of the down and dirty work.

A day in the life of this oh so glamorous career! Today was in interesting day. Have you ever had to count tile? Not just any tile. But tile that is all different sizes and shapes, in multiple boxes?

Here’s the story. There is a tile factory located in Ohio called Seneca Tile. In December 2020 they had a fire that burned the factory to the ground.  So now there is a field that is open to the public with piles of tile that survived the blaze. They are beautiful tiles, but it takes a lot of time and patience to dig through the dirt to collect these treasures. Our clients of the Hamlin Lake project did just that.

It’s been about a year since that trip so the tiles have been stored. The tile work will be starting soon so we needed to know exactly how much we have. We picked them up in two separate trips because there are multiple boxes which are very very heavy. So today was the day that I went through every single box and counted every single tile.  I’m so glad I didn’t just have a manicure lol. It didn’t take quite as long as I thought it would, and I was SO excited to confirm we have enough. Otherwise I’d have to find something to use as an accent and that’s just not the look we are going for.

Here is a photo. I wish I had taken some better ones so you can see how truly beautiful they are. They are all handmade from local clay, and hand glazed. I can’t wait to show you this shower once complete!!
