Before
This kitchen had not been updated since the 70's. The cabinets were dark and dirty and the
countertops were worn through, not to mention orange which coordinated with the floors.
There was a peninsula that took up most of the room. There was only a 4 foot distance
between it and the adjacent counter.
The entire kitchen was gutted. Every cabinet was removed from the wall and painted using a creamy brown color and the doors were painted a bright white. To save money, the peninsula was moved onto the stove wall. This opened up the room. A dishwasher and new cabinet replaced the old refrigerator. The window was also replaced at this time, and hardwood floors were installed. The overhead light fixture and pendant light over the sink were updated. New laminate countertops were installed and also a large basin sink and faucet. Because the homeowners completed the work themselves and reused existing pieces, they had an almost brand new kitchen for less than $4,000.
