The best advice I have ever heard about buying used lamps whether it be in a thrift store, at a yard sale or from Craigslist, is if you find them in pairs, buy them! Pairs of lamps are hard to come by. I’m not sure what happens to them. Maybe they break or they were never bought as a pair to begin with.
This week I have found you the top three pairs of lamps I could find on the West Michigan Craigslist site. I love the simple lines of the first pair. Since it was posted May 12, I kind of doubt they are still available. But you never know! They could be spray painted any color you want. For a classic look, paint them black. Or use them in a girls bedroom and paint them hot pink!
Ok I know what you are thinking. These lamps are hideous! What was she thinking?????? Ignore the ugly blue for a minute. You can buy Krylon’s looking glass spray paint, and turn that hideous blue into mercury glass!!! I’ll be posting a tutorial on this topic very soon.
My last treasure for you are located in Kalamazoo. They are traditional in shape. These lamps have so much potential. You can dress them up the easy way with some paint. Or you could wrap them in rope for a nautical/beach house look.
I of course would also purchase new shades for all of the lamps I found. Target has some really cute ones. They have both plain colored shades as wells as more interesting ones with fun patterns and colors.
Have you brought new life to a lamp? Please share in the comments!!
